RADIOACTIVITY MEASUREMENT LABORATORY UNIT

The radioactivity measurement laboratory provides the following services:

  • Qualitative and quantitative analysis of emitting gamma-radiation natural (238U, 232Th, 40K etc.) and artificial (137Cs, etc.) radionuclides in environmental samples,
  • Qualitative and quantitative analysis of emitting gamma-radiation (238U, 232Th, 40K etc.) and artificial (137Cs, etc.) radionuclides in industrial products such as building materials,
  • Qualitative and quantitative analysis of emitting gamma-radiation (238U, 232Th, 40K etc.) and artificial (137Cs, etc.) radionuclides in food,
  • Measured the concentration of naturally occurring radon (222Rn) gas activity in environmental samples as soil, rock, water etc.
  • Measured the concentration of naturally occurring radon (222Rn) gas activity in indoor environmental as home, school, workplace etc.
  • Direct and indirect determination of radion emanation coefficients and radon mass exhalation rates of industrial products such as building materials.

In our center, there have two gama-ray spectrometry system, scintillation detector [NaI (Tl)], high purity germanium (HPGe) detector and one active radar gas measurement system.
